As promised, I got a good night’s rest and ventured out bright and early. How crazy is it that I only have a few days left and I’m just now getting on Parisian time. Perhaps that means I should stay? Hmmm…Has Paris bore a whole in my heart? It’s tempting. Gonna throw this one up to the stars and see what comes of it.
I took a stroll to the Parc des Buttes Chaumont. Ever since I started thinking about the gym, I’ve vetoed the use of the metro all together. This should do marvels for my ass. Shape-ups don't have nothing on these miles of city scape exploration. Any who…Eleanor had recommended this park amongst many other wonderful suggestions. She’s been more helpful than I could ever imagine. I have an entire folder in my email dedicated to her suggestions. A few others had mentioned it and Erin and Safia had visited last week while I was knee deep in work. Everyone described it as a very romantic place. This whole city is romantic so I was anticipating some sort of heart stopping, cupid flinging feast of romantic love. How much more romantic can you get?
It was a gorgeous park complete with a lake, hills, bridges, waterfalls, monuments and even carousels for the wee little ones. People sun bathing in the lawn, cute restaurants tucked away in the tree lines and wonderful city views. It was 80% local and 20% lucky tourists that knew about the spot. The locals didn’t seem to be bothered as they carried on with their morning jogs and lunchtime picnics. It was warming to see the symbiosis. What a gem. I can say that I imagine the romanticism but being here alone, it’s hard to get the full affect. I may have to report back with the inside scoop. I might just have a volunteer.
Then a dinner date with my favorite Parisian. I tried out a new recipe on him, always a risk on the first dinner date but hey, you know I like to live on the edge. He brought over wine and an assortment of cheeses. Obviously a genius move considering my overstated affinity for the two. Throw in a fine French man and you have yourself a trifecta. We spent the evening never tiring of conversation or discovering our favorite things in the world. It’s extra wonderful that he has traveled so much and can comment from a million points of view. These lucky Frenchies get 5 weeks off a year! That leaves a lot of room for discovering the world.
Another wonderful day to lock away in the memoirs.
