It’s hitting me like a ton of bricks. 7 more days! It may have been Cat Steven’s induced but I’ve all of a sudden become overcome with fear that this town has spoiled me. When I get home will I long for the gorgeous architecture, the history, art, music in the plaza’s, endless cafés and terribly interesting people? How long will it take me to retrain my mind to love Miami for all that it is and non of what it’s not? Amazing weather, the ocean, the nightlife the desire beaming from every person to live it up and be youthful at any age. Every place is flawed and like us that is what makes it beautiful. How terrible to imagine that perfection could make me whole but I can’t stop trying. I mash both cities up in my brain and quickly dismiss the fake, forced utopia.

Today we went to my favorite part of town. The plazas and area in front of Le Louvre. The building’s here are vast and embellished with sculptures and spewing timeless beauty. Angelina’s came highly recommended by friends and family. According to Trip advisor it is #9 out of 246 things to do in Paris. Pretty impressive. It’s a tea room famous for its decadent hot chocolate. It’s been around since 1903 and was once a favorite of the likes Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel. Needless to say we had high hopes. A line out the door greeted us. We acquired a perfect spot in the center.
What ensued was some cross between a diabetic coma and an orgasm. The hot chocolate is in fact a cup of melted semi-sweet chocolate with heavy cream on the side. We shared one small cup, I had half of mine and started to get the sweats. I love chocolate but this is taking it to another level. I’m not sure if I liked it or was just scared. I thought Erin was going to pass out. She drank her whole cup, had an espresso and her pastries. She’s just a little one. Good thing we memorized the Parisian 911. By luck alone we didn’t have to use it.
From there to rest our aching bellies at the Plaza Collete. I had walked by here and seen people playing string instruments before. Today we were in for a wonderful surprise. A string orchestra playing in the open, on the streets for tips alone. Why has this never happened to me before? This is exactly the type of thing I’m going to miss most.
All and all a day full of my favorite things Paris has to offer, decadent treats, beautiful scenery, street performances and the company of wonderful people.
