Day 15 of 30: Think outside the box.

Finally made it to Pompidou!! After only a million and one walk-by’s. Centre Georges Pompidou is the modern art museum that everyone insisted upon. It was everything I had hoped for and a side of pomme frite. Safia, our Parisian hottie, lead the way. She managed to get us is in for free. Most likely because she is quite obviously the shit! Stylish, beautiful, fun, smart and together. Awesomest-est-est gal you can meet. We shared a coffee at the rooftop café and admired the most spectacular view of Paris. I thought I had seen the best from the Sacre Coeur but being that this building is within a stone’s throw of the Louvre, Notre Dame and countless other landmarks, there was no competition. The most notable piece for me is what I like to call Dick outside the box.

From there to a shopping spree at Les Halles and a dinner break along the Montorgueil. This is one of the largest Metro connection hubs and so they built a huge, partly underground mall around it. Genius move!

We started off the evening with a spot owned by the same people as the Curio Parlor and recommended by no other than Angel, my leading go to man for classy Parisian lounges. L'Experimental Cocktail Club. He promised it would be the best cosmo in town. The place was the same as its cross city sister, a simple door on an unmarked and dimly lit street. You’d think there would be no need for a wait but the door men insisted that we wait 2-5 minutes so that they could “soak in our beauty.” A very different approach to the Miami club scene.

It was hot beyond belief but great music and fantastic drinks. It’s important to note that it is absolutely forbidden to order a drink outside the menu at a cocktail lounge. The point being that they want you to taste their specialty cocktails. Very strange, but hey, I’m not the boss here.

It all ended with my intro to a French Onion soup and the most decadent Croque Madame around.
